In addition to great food and celebrating your community on Saturday, there will also be ~LIVE MUSIC~ provided Dragoni & Son. Come groove with us 🕺💃🎶

Dragoni & Son are Jim Dragoni and his son Andrew. Andrew and Jim have been playing together since 2005 using keyboard, electric-acoustic guitar, piano, organ and bass. Together they cover standards, blues, jazz and jazzed classic rock interpretations. The father-son bond is evident with seamless intuitive communication and musical magic. Their approach is original and heavily influenced by Jim’s experience going back to the pre-Beatle era, circa 1962 and thereafter. Jim has played with Mose Allison, Larry Coryell, Odean Pope, Bobby Zankel and many others. Other performances have been Lincoln Center in NYC, Philadelphia Folk Festival (2024), Havana New Hope and many more. Jim has recently released two CDs: My Man Mose, the Songs of Mose Allison and Waking Dreams, an acoustic guitar compilation of original music. Cookie Bundy has worked for the Mt. Airy Business Improvement District since 2015, hired as a Street Ambassador, now serving as Crew Supervisor. While his primary responsibilities are making sure that the litter is removed from the Germantown Avenue commercial corridor, and that the hanging baskets and pocket parks survive the summer, he has gained the respect and appreciation of all who visit the commercial corridor for the warmth and care that he extends to everyone he encounters, truly embodying the spirit of ambassadorship. Cookie consistently goes above and beyond his official duties. Whether directing traffic when a streetlight goes out, or helping a driver change a flat tire along the Avenue, Cookie is there to lend a hand. Mt. Airy is a cleaner, safer, prettier and friendlier place because of him.

Christina Jackson studies urban ecosystems and community relationships as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Rutgers University, so it’s no surprise that she’s been actively involved in two of the most pressing issues facing our community in recent years: class leveling at Houston Elementary School, and tenant advocacy at Cresheim Valley Apartments. Whether leading a rally alongside fellow parents and students on the steps of Houston as their Home and School Association’s co-president, or facilitating tenant resource sessions, Christina consistently leads with passion and grace.

Meg Hagele does so much more than keep Mt Airy caffeinated. After founding High Point in 2005, Meg’s love of her native Mt Airy has translated into her creating two magical spaces that anchor our community. She has the ability to hire and retain amazing staff who make us feel at home every morning, and bake us the most delectable pastries overnight. Meg is always quick to support volunteer events and community causes. Whether coming up with Save the Train Snickerdoodles or hosting High Point Sunday Markets, Meg is a constant source of community joy and pride.

Brad Maule has been the President of the Board of Friends of Cresheim Trail since 2022, leading the revitalization of the Trail and championing its expansion to eventually connect the Wiss to Fort Washington State Park in Montco. He has worked in various roles for multiple local organizations, including Friends of the Wissahickon, Mt. Airy CDC, and Chestnut Hill Conservancy. His IG account @fowissahickon helped viewers experience the natural glory of the Wissahickon through his keen eye and passion for local flora and fauna. Brad is always willing to be a sounding board for new ideas, and lends his creative spirit generously in support of community projects. Some neighbors have suggested that most of us in Mt Airy could easily play 6 degrees of Brad Maule! He is greatly missed now that he lives in York, PA.

Who are the Community Champions we will be celebrating at our Fall BBQ?? First up we have the Chapman Family 👏 We hope you can join us Saturday Oct 26th from 1p to 4p! Tickets for sale at the link in our bio.

The whole Chapman family contributes meaningfully to our community, primarily in ways that may go unnoticed by most of us as we go about our busy lives. JoAnn consistently welcomes new neighbors, offering herself as a resource to help make relocating easier. Jeff serves as a committeeman and also annually cleans all the gutters of his neighbors’ adjoining rowhomes. Both Jeff and JoAnn are active volunteers with Mount Airy Baseball, serving as both coaches and assistant coaches. When the snow and leaves fall, all four Chapmans clear the sidewalks for elderly neighbors. During COVID, they and their twin sons posted inspirational messages on the block and lifted the spirits of our community during a daunting time. The Chapmans live the motto of doing small things with great love.
